HDS fouling Control Technology
Process-side fouling can occur in most refinery units, and can cause many operating and maintenance problems. Fouling that limits unit throughput or forces downtime for cleaning are the most expensive problems. Lost heat transfer, resulting in excess furnace firing, will cause increased fuel costs. Other costs to the refiner include increased maintenance and equipment failure costs. Fouling is a leading cause of diminished efficiency and productivity in refineries today, and associated maintenance costs in US refineries alone are in excess of $2 billion per year. The problem has intensified as the trend continues for refineries to process more difficult to process and heavier crude oils, and with increased utilization of hydrotreaters to comply with new transportation fuel sulfur content regulations.
Cestoil Chemical has introduced many innovations in fouling control technology to the refining industry, with successful, ongoing applications in all sorts of hydrotreaters, hydrocrackers as well as CDU, FCCUs, cokers, visbreakers and gas plants. One of our key success factors in treating refinery fouling problems has been to use our laboratory analytical capabilities, problem solving skills and experience to fully understand the mechanism of fouling in a given system. We then work closely with our customers to develop a cost effective, technically appropriate total fouling control solution for each fouling problem.
Cestoil Chemical also has dedicated programmers who design fouling monitoring models for networked preheat exchanger systems and other process equipment. These models provide valuable feedback on fouling conditions in the unit so that any necessary corrective actions can be taken in a timely fashion.
