Pipeline drag reducers

Polymer-based drag reduction acts on turbulent flow within the transported liquid. The objective may be to support a required flow rate within pressure constraints or evaluate pumping demand at a comparable flow.

Formulations serve different fluids and handling conditions. Carrier, low-temperature properties and compatibility should be checked for the selected formulation.

• Injection facilities, pumping arrangement and downstream requirements

Compare treatment response at documented flow and operating conditions. Review the pressure profile and pumping demand together, recording changes that affect the comparison.

A monitored trial should distinguish reduced pressure loss from an operating decision to increase throughput.
