Crude-oil pretreatment additives

Crude-oil pretreatment combines separation and contaminant-removal treatments before downstream refining. The application review considers crude blend, desalter behavior and contaminants of concern so that treatment functions can be assessed within the same operating context.

Demulsifiers address oil–water separation, while calcium and iron removal additives address selected metal-related problems. The appropriate combination follows the observed operating issue and supporting analyses.

Review the current chemical program alongside desalter operation. Changes in crude blending, wash-water quality or interface behavior may affect which treatment needs attention.
