Demulsifiers address oil–water separation, while calcium and iron removal additives address selected metal-related problems. The appropriate combination follows the observed operating issue and supporting analyses.

Review the current chemical program alongside desalter operation. Changes in crude blending, wash-water quality or interface behavior may affect which treatment needs attention.
