Renewable Ingredients

Renewable Ingredients

Renewable fatty acids and derivatives are selected by composition, reactivity and formulation role. Ingredient families provide starting points for industrial fluids, surfactants, resins and other specialty chemistry.

Discuss your application

Fatty acid families

Soy oil and tall oil fatty acids are feedstocks for industrial formulations and chemical intermediates. Fatty acid profiles and other compositional characteristics help determine suitability.

  • Soy oil fatty acids: lubricant, surfactant, emulsifier and alkyd resin formulations
  • Tall oil fatty acids: ester, surfactant, resin and corrosion-inhibitor chemistry
  • Linoleic-rich fatty acids: reactive components for coatings, lubricants, surfactants and resins

Modified fatty acids and derivatives

Iso-oleic acids contain an isomerized fatty acid structure and are evaluated as intermediates for synthetic esters, hydrogenation products and specialty derivatives.

Dimer acids are polymerized fatty acid intermediates used in polyamide resins, lubricants, oilfield fluids and corrosion-inhibitor formulations. Molecular distribution and handling behavior are relevant to selection.

Define formulation requirements

Start with the reaction route or function required in the finished formulation. Focus evaluation on the properties that influence processing and intended use.

  • Composition: fatty acid profile, unsaturation and relevant minor components
  • Reactivity: intended reaction, functionality and raw-material compatibility
  • Handling: viscosity, color, blending and processing conditions
  • Evaluation: stability, appearance and functional properties

Review the selected ingredient

Use the product data sheet to assess candidate ingredients and the shipment’s certificate of analysis to review batch results. Renewable feedstock origin is a material attribute; finished-formulation requirements need their own evaluation.

Discuss product selection

Share the application, operating conditions and requirements that matter to your evaluation. Product-specific properties, use guidance and handling information are provided in the relevant product data sheet and safety data sheet.
