Application and function

Neutralization is one part of acid-corrosion management in crude-unit and other distillation overhead systems. The treatment controls acidity where the selected formulation is applied.

Salts formed during neutralization also matter. Their behavior depends on formulation and service conditions. Review treatment together with water washing, corrosion inhibition and the overhead operating profile.

  • Condensation conditions, wash-water availability and salt-deposition history
  • Existing chemical program, injection facilities and monitoring arrangements

Evaluation and technical review

Establish a baseline using acidity measurements, corrosion results and deposit observations. Evaluate these indicators together across representative operating conditions.

Record feed and operating changes during a trial, and review formulation requirements against the actual overhead service.
