Northshore COLI9500E is a soybean fatty-acid additive for improving diesel fuel lubricity. It is an economical option within Cestoil’s Northshore lubricity improver range.

Application and function

COLI9500E is used in diesel blending and treatment programs where the untreated fuel needs additional lubricity to meet a specified target.

Fuel lubricity is relevant to wear in fuel-injection equipment. Evaluate the additive in the intended fuel using an agreed test method, such as HFRR, to establish the treatment level and confirm compatibility with the complete additive package.

When to consider COLI9500E

COLI9500E is a practical candidate for refiners, terminals and fuel distributors seeking to optimize lubricity-treatment cost. Cestoil’s 2026 brochure describes lubricity efficiency comparable to COLI9500, with slightly higher cloud and pour point characteristics.

Consider it where your storage, transfer and dosing conditions allow this trade-off. Compare the required dosage in your fuel and the quoted product price to establish the actual treatment cost.

COLI9500E, COLI9500 and COLI9500ES: understand the difference

COLI9500E is a fatty-acid product, not the ester grade. It shares the core soybean fatty-acid route with COLI9500, with a formulation positioned for cost efficiency. COLI9500ES is the separate ester-based option for evaluation where formulation compatibility is a priority.

Pipeline documentation and handling

Cestoil’s 2026 brochure includes COLI9500E in its EI 1535 qualification information. For a pipeline or terminal application, request current grade-specific documentation and confirm the operator’s requirements and use conditions.

Review the current PDS and SDS before a trial. A pour point alone does not define the minimum recommended pumping or storage temperature. Share your lowest expected handling temperature and equipment arrangement with Cestoil.

  1. Record the untreated fuel’s HFRR result and the required target.
  2. Compare several agreed dosages in a representative fuel sample, including the existing treatment where available.
  3. Check the complete additive package and storage conditions.
  4. Compare treatment cost and define the routine blending and quality-control plan.
